Who is responsible for your data
jamesdooley.com is the personal website of James Dooley ("we" and "us" in this policy). James Dooley is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, email me@jamesdooley.com.
Browsing the website
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or cookies of our own, and we do not build profiles of the people who visit. When your browser requests a page, your IP address and basic browser details reach the services that deliver the site, listed below, as they do for any website.
What we collect when you contact us
If you send an enquiry through the form on the contact page, we receive your name, email address, phone number, postcode or ZIP code and your message. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the email.
How we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry and to arrange any work you ask about. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us and, where you ask about working together, taking the steps you request before a contract is agreed.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to keep you informed.
Who else handles your data
We use these providers to run the website and the contact form. They handle personal data on our behalf and under their own security obligations.
- LeadSimplify provides the contact form and stores the enquiries sent through it.
- Stripe code is loaded by the contact form for fraud prevention and sets two cookies, described in the cookie policy. No payment is taken on this website.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and protects it against abuse.
- Fontshare, run by the Indian Type Foundry, supplies the fonts the website uses.
- Our email provider handles any email you send us.
Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, and then delete them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. To make a request, email me@jamesdooley.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Links to other websites
This website links to other sites, including James Dooley's profiles, businesses and press coverage. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we handle personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. See also the terms of use and cookie policy.
